Girl Guiding in Maldives

As a member of the world’s largest voluntary movement dedicated to girls and young women, the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), the Maldives Girl Guide Association is committed to empowering and inspiring young girls across the nation.
With more than 14,000 members from 60 schools nationwide, the Maldives Girl Guide Association is the largest voluntary, non-profit organization for girls and young women in the Maldives.

Our aim is to provide safe spaces for a high-quality Girl Guide experience, where girls and young women can continuously grow and learn through a relevant, exciting, accessible, and learner-led program. We embrace a non-formal educational approach that supports personal development, championing the Girl Guide and Girl Scout methods: learning by doing, progressing at one’s own pace (“my path, my pace”), connecting with the world, learning in small groups, and fostering meaningful connections with others.
As we envision a more equitable world where girls and young women can truly thrive, we are dedicated to creating opportunities that empower them to lead, make informed choices, and contribute meaningfully to their communities and beyond. Today, we are shaping a generation of changemakers who will drive positive change not only in the Maldives but around the globe.

Our History
On July 4, 1996, we attained Associate Membership in the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), and got full membership on July 2, 1999. Consequently, we commemorate our membership anniversary on July 2.
We are honored and eagerly anticipate the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of Girl Guiding in the Maldives in 2026.
