The theme for this year’s environment camp is “Biosphere Reserve” and will be held in B.Eydhafushi from 16th December to 19th December 2015. 150 participants who are between 12 – 17 years across the country participated in this camp. The camp covered Information about biosphere Reserve Waste Management and Composting Observing nature while discussing the issues we have, along with our responsibilities were also discussed. Participants were given the opportunity to snorkel to observe the reef and ecosystem. This session includes identifying problems and discussing the things we can do to address the issues. Participants also did beach cleanup and observed mangrove at Olhugiri.
Participants also enjoyed the tour at Sonevafushi and learnt about their “wasteisweath” concept and up cycling of glass. An action plan for a period of 1 year was prepared by participants to address the issues at local level which can be addressed by the level of guides. This camp was held in collaboration with Ministry of Environment and Energy, Soneva Fushi, Biosphere Reserve. Other partners include, Atoll council, Eydhafushi council, Parent Teacher Association of B. AEC, Maalhos Council and Sea Explorers
